2026 Goals: Let's Do This!

It’s a little bit late, but also good to list out what I’m looking to accomplish this year. You know: Keep myself honest and all that. I would say that accomplishing all of this would be a stretch. And some of this is aspirational… but hopefully I succeed in knocking of a few things off this list. And at the end of the year, it would be good to review and reflect these goals to see what worked, what still needs work, and where I’ve progressed.

Goals

Hard Goals

These are things that absolutely need to get done…

  • Finish everything related to finalizing my Dad’s death
  • Ensuring that my Mom and Sister are living from a space of relative security
  • Build my house
  • Deploy this site (himynameisrich.com)
  • Incorporate final features of this site (Project Completion at 100%)

Soft Goals

These are things that are important, but will kill me if they get delayed some…

  • Furnish my home and move in
  • Complete the backend design for project pfin_dash.com
  • Complete initial frontend design (stock tracking & screening) for Project pfindash.com
  • Complete initial frontend design (asset, portfolio, & transaction tracking) for Project pfindash.com

Stretch Goals

This is a list of things that either might not complete within the year, or otherwise have to end date or milestone…

  • Learn to play the guitar…
    • Learn to fret common chords without having to look at my left hand
    • Learn a few strumming patterns (ie: D chord) without looking at my fingers
    • Improve strumming with a pick
    • Memorize at least two songs that someone can sing along to (maybe even me!)
  • Practice a foreign language… this is nominally Spanish
  • Learn the in’s and out’s of AI
    • Setup an AI (nominally claude-code) workflow that works for me
    • Complete a vibe-coding project of some sort
    • Listen regularly to podcasts to get a feel for the state of the art and industry
  • Take Coursera courses on:
    • Machine Learning
    • LLM Prompt Engineering
    • LLM Architecture
    • SQL and Database Design
    • Advanced Python Coding
    • Frontend Design
    • Figma and the Design Process in General
    • Accounting and Finance
